There are lots of ways to help

Whether you're young or old, a seasoned gardener or novice, interested in nature or history, a local resident or a visitor there are lots of ways to help. Become a Friend,  a volunteer, a donor or simply help by reporting a problem you have spotted in the park to the Council. Any or all of these helps make the park a better place.

Become a Friend

Please help us by becoming a Friend of the Park. The more Friends we have, the louder our voice. Click on the button to tell us why you come to the park, if you have any particular interest and send us any comments, ideas or suggestions. It is free and our Newsletter is the easiest way to keep up to date. It  is sent each month to all Friends unless they opt out

Become a Volunteer

The Park Friends volunteers are making a real difference - we receive a lot of positive comments and know the efforts of every volunteer who helps make this happen are truly appreciated.

Whether you're young or old, a seasoned gardener or novice, interested in nature or history or wish to support your local community, there is a way you can help:-

  • Join a working party in the park led by Harry Mycock our very own chartered horticulturist. There are jobs for everyone from litter picking to learning to use power tools, come and enjoy the fresh air, the views and make new friends in your community.

  • Join the hospitality team led by Sheena Smith thanking volunteers and promoting the Friends to visitors at talks or the ends of our guided walks and tours of the Park.

  • Join our office team led by Mike Biden becoming a researcher, admin assistant or helping with our marketing communications.

To find out more on any of the above, email us at: SGHParkFriends@outlook.com

Give us a Donation

These are much appreciated. Large or small, one off or regular giving – they all help. From graffiti cleaner and high viz jackets, insurance and software, to plants and seeds the expenses mount up and we have to raise the funds to meet these costs.  You can make a one-off donation to our current appeal or become a supporter by giving a regular amount monthly or annually. They all help fund our activities in the park. Click on the buttons to learn more and make a donation.

Reporting problems in the park

You can be our eyes spotting problems in the park, including trip hazards, broken steps and benches and other maintenance issues. Please report these to the City Council who are responsible for park maintenance and management, including any urgent repairs for safety reasons.

We recommend using the “Your Winchester" app on your mobile device - it's by far the easiest way to report problems to the Council.

Alternatively, you can visit the Council's website by clicking the button below. Select the Antosocial Behavioyr link and then follow directions and enter information required as directed.
