About The Event
St Giles Hill Park is a most valued Park in the City of Winchester. Its story is a fascinating one and in January there is an opportunity to hear about it.
Accomplished researcher, Chartered Horticulturist and Chair of the Friends of St Giles Hill Park, Harry Mycock, has been unearthing the story of St Giles Hill Park and would like to share the progress so far.
In a series of three Zoom meetings in January 2024, Harry will trace the history of this special place from its early origins to the setting for one of Europe's greatest medieval trade fairs, to the creation and development of the present Park, which will mark its 150th anniversary in 2028.
Earlier events on 16 and 23 January will cover the origins of the park and its creation in 1878 (see separate event listings for more information on these talks and to register). The final event in the series will take place on Tuesday 30 Jan 18.00-19.00 and cover the development of the Park from its creation up to and including the present day.
